Former Pakistan cricketer Sarfaraz Ahmed made a memorable comeback to international cricket. He played his first Test series after a three-year hiatus against New Zealand. He scored three fifties and one hundred against the Kiwis. In the series, he also played his 50th Test in the red ball format. He came in for Mohammed Rizwan and quashed all his doubters.
He had scored 350 runs in the two-match Test series and also was showered high praises for his stellar knock in the second Test which ended in a draw for Pakistan. A video of Sarfaraz singing at Shaan Masood’s wedding has broken the internet. In the video, Sarfaraz can be seen ‘Sada khush raho tum…’ and other filmy numbers in his melodious voice and the gathering present there were full of admiration for his skills.

“The people who dropped him from the team are hiding their faces. They have now realised that they didn’t treat him well. Second innings while chasing is probably the most difficult one, Sarfaraz played the best knock of his career under pressure. He scored runs on a difficult pitch where the so-called world-class batter Babar Azam failed. Against off-spinners, he doesn’t have sweep shots and is unable to take charge. And in the end, he gave up,” Kaneria said in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel about the former Pakistan captain’s ouster from the team.
The series between Pakistan and New Zealand produced stunning individual performances with bat and ball, but with bad light playing a significant role, none of the Tests could get a result. The series ended in a draw. Babar Azam, Devon Conway, Sarfaraz, Kane Williamson and others put forth brilliant performances in Pakistan.
The second Test which was also the final Test of the series between Pakistan and New Zealand was a nail-biting thriller and went down to the final day. Sarfaraz was the penultimate batter to be dismissed, Pakistan were placed at 287 and were within touching distance of getting to 319 with Abrar Ahmed and Naseem Shah holding the fort when bad light stopped play.
Sarfaraz’s video has been doing the rounds on social media, let us take a look at the reactions on Twitter:
