For the elite team Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), players Kylian Mbappe from France and Achraf Hakimi from Morocco team up. They are not only teammates but also good friends. Both were chosen by their nations to represent their national teams in the World Cup in Qatar.
Morocco was an underdog entering the competition while France was the reigning champion. But despite the odds, Morocco advanced to the semifinal round. They were the first African country to ever make it to this level, and the entire continent was rooting for them.
As luck would have it, Morocco and France squared off in the semifinal on Wednesday, pitting Mbappe and Hakimi—best friends and teammates—against one another. France won 2-0, much to the sadness and dismay of Morocco.
As the final whistle went off, Hakimi and the majority of the other Moroccan players fell down on their knees on the field, devastated over their defeat. Mbappe went to his friend and helped him stand up by lending a hand. He also gave him a hug and comforting words. Later, he traded shirts with him, which is a popular football tradition.
Mbappe then shared a picture of himself consoling his friend on social media. “Don’t be sad bro, everybody is proud of what you did, you made history. @AchrafHakimi,” he wrote in the caption.

Over 1 million people have liked and retweeted the tweet. Many people claimed that the tweet and photo were representatives of the two great friends’ cordial relationship. Numerous responses mentioned their “bromance.” “I appreciate you very much. True friendship never ends,” a fan wrote. “Mbappe is blessed. He’s a complete player,” another one wrote.
Hakimi was one of those who commented on the same post on Instagram. To Mbappe, he responded, “Love u bro”. In the meantime, France is all set to face Argentina in the final of the tournament on the 18th of December.
