One of the greatest batters in the history of the game, Brian Lara, took on one of the best spinners of the current generation, Rashid Khan, on Saturday. The epic encounter took place in a net session during the dinner break of Australia vs West Indies Adelaide Test.

For the unversed, both cricketers are currently in Australia. The legendary West Indies cricketer is part of the commentary panel for Australia vs West Indies Test series. On the other hand, Rashid Khan is prepping up for the upcoming edition of the Big Bash League.

Amidst the Test match, the two star cricketers decided to take on each other with spectators covering the entire nets. Mark Howard acted as umpire/commentator for the mini-battle.

The West Indies batter didn’t try to take him on the first few deliveries and missed one completely as he tried to smash one on the leg side. Rashid had set hypothetical field placements and the two were supposed to be playing a Test match.

Howard then switched the scenario to 12 required off one over. Initially, the Afghanistan bowler looked like dominating, but only for the West Indies star to unleash his masterclass knocks, later on.

He brought out a cracking square cut, playing it late and in the gap for a four. On the very next ball, he whipped one behind square. The umpire gave it as one but Lara argued to be a four instead.

The equation, eventually, came down to 6 needed off two balls. The next ball resulted in a single, as 5 runs were required off the final ball. Afghanistan spinner bowled the last one short and Lara smashed that over deep midwicket only to be resulting in a four.
The game, eventually, ended in a tie.
