This is unfortunate but looks obvious. The rise of Shubman Gill has meant that the management has no option but to look beyond Shikhar Dhawan. The Southpaw last played an ODI for India on the 10th of December. Since July 2022, Gill has established himself as a terrific ODI opener. Dhawan has not been great either in terms of his strike rate, which has not helped his cause. With India already having moved on from the experienced cricketer, there are chances that Dhawan might announce his retirement from ODIs. In fact, Dhawan might retire from T20Is as well, to focus on T20 Leagues across the world.
