Mohammad, born in 1929, played 20 Tests for Pakistan between 1952 and 1959. A handy batsman, he scored over 801 runs at an average of 27.62. His returns included two centuries and three fifties. he came from a sports background as both his mother did well in badminton and carrom while his father excelled as a club cricketer. Wazir Mohammad was a part of some of Pakistan’s earliest wins in Test cricket including their first in the West Indies.
