The game of football has produced many greats through the period of time but there are firecrackers in the game who burst onto the scene with a lot of talent and promise but injuries have held them back and cut short their career.

We will look at 5 footballers who have retired from the game at an early age:

1. Eric Cantona

Eric Cantona was a man who wore many hats as a French actor, director, producer, and former professional footballer. He was one of the key architects during Manchester United’s revival process in the 1990’s. He had earned a status of an icon at the club. Cantona combined technical skill and creativity with power and goalscoring ability.

He was versatile in the football field as well and was preferably a  deep lying forward he was also capable of playing as a center forward or even as an out an out striker,  or as as an attacking midfielder, or as a central midfielder on occasions.
