India and Australia will face off in the initial Test of the three-match contest on February 9, Thursday and the Rohit Sharma-led team are preparing ahead of the much-awaited series. That being said, the Australian team on Tuesday, uploaded a picture of them taking a close lock at the Nagpur pitch to be used on Thursday.

For the unversed, several claims about the Nagpur pitch are being made from all across the world and former cricketers from both countries have voiced out on the same. The Baggy Greens, on the other hand, revealed their training with Ravichandran Ashwin’s ‘duplicate’ and with Ravindra Jadeja returning to the series, it would be a tough ask for the Australian team to clinch the win.

There were also reports about the Pat Cummins-led team studying the footage of Indian allrounder Axar Patel and considering him a ‘huge threat’. However, laughing off the news, Ashwin said in a recent video that the Australian team and their media do come up with all of these antics ahead of the Border-Gavaskar trophy every single time.

Spinners to dominate the initial Test between India and Australia on Thursday?

Several tactics are being used by both countries and amid huge hype, it remains to be seen if the Indian team would come up with a strategy that would work against the mighty Aussies. With Ashwin and Jadeja assured for the first Test, the other spin option for Rohit and his think tank would most probably be Axar.

Former team India coach Ravi Shastri said that he expects the pitch to turn from Day 1 and go on till the end of Day 5 on Monday. It would not be an easy outing for both teams as both captains are expecting rank turners for the first Test and it is all in the hands of the curator to come up with a challenging yet playable pitch.

“There’s a lot of crap spoken about pitches. I believe no one other than the curator should have a say on what wickets are produced. I don’t think it should be up to the players, the manager, the coach, or anybody! You just produce a good pitch. Surely a curator has been a player and wants to produce a good pitch,” Shastri was quoted as saying.

Here’s how fans have reacted to the Australian team taking a closer look at the Nagpur pitch:
