3 players to watch out for in first match of Lanka Premier League 2023 between Jaffna Kings and Colombo Strikers

The Lanka Premier League is ready to set the Sri Lankan shores alight with some high-octane cricket matches. Some top players from around the world will participate in the league. Colombo and Kandy will host the matches in this edition. The tournament will take place from June 30 to August 21. There will be five teams participating in this edition. When it comes to international flavour the likes of Babar Azam, Shakib Al Hasan, David Miller and Chris Lynn.

The Sri Lankans will be eager to prove their worth considering there were the ones who went for the big bucks in the LPL auction. The format will be a round-robin where all teams will be facing each other twice. The top four teams left standing in the tournament will qualify for the playoffs. The playoff games will be held from August 17 and the final will be played on August 20 with August 21 kept as a rain reserve day. When it comes to broadcast details, the league will be live on Star Sports and will be streaming on Fan Code.

Charith Asalanka has been one of the upcoming batting sensations from Sri Lanka. The left-hander has shown his ability to smash the ball to all parts in the middle order for Sri Lanka and will be looking to make his presence felt in the LPL as well. Asalanka has played 37 T2oIs in Sri Lanka and scored 823 runs in 37 matches with an average of 24.93 and the highest score of 80. He can double up as a part-time spin option as well when needed.
